Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

At KA Transportation Services, we are committed to providing best in class service and communication that meets or exceeds your expectations.  Below are some of the more general questions and answers.  If you have other more specific questions, please reach out to us!

What kinds of vehicles do you transport?  Are there any limitations?

While our primary business is relocating vehicles for corporate clients, relocation management
companies, moving and storage companies, and van lines nationwide, we also welcome personal relocations.  We can move any type of vehicle anywhere in the world!

How will my vehicle be transported?

We offer many options to suit your budget and preferences.  Our most popular choice is an open
car carrier.  However, if your vehicle is an antique or luxury vehicle or if you’re transporting it through rough weather, the more expensive closed car carrier does offer more protection.

Will you pick up and deliver my vehicle at my addresses?

Yes, in fact, this is our preferred method of pick up and delivery because it reduces the amount of times your vehicle is handled.  However, if you live on a street that’s not accessible to tractor-trailers, the driver will request that you meet the truck at a safe public place, such as a grocery store parking lot.  Or, if you prefer, our many options include flatbed tow-truck pick up and delivery of vehicles to the address you specify.

Do you give exact pick up and delivery dates?

Yes.  We offer many options to suit your budget and preferences.  This includes same day pick up as well as guaranteed delivery dates.

Can I ship personal items in my vehicle?

Due to insurance and other regulations, your vehicle must be empty of personal items.  The Department of Transportation strictly prohibits the carrying of personal items on a truck licensed only for transporting vehicles and non-compliance could result in removal of items upon inspection by the DOT at state lines. Your registration, proof of insurance and child safety seats are the only exceptions allowed to remain in the vehicle.

What happens if my vehicle is damaged?

If the damage is to glass or due to ‘Acts of God’ your current automobile insurance would be used to file a claim.  For other types of damage, you’re covered up to the Kelly Blue Book value.  Customers should wash and photograph your vehicle to document its condition before shipping.  If damage does occur, certain steps must be taken at the time of delivery to document the damage before the vehicle is released back to you.  Contact KARS immediately, and we will walk you through the process.

How long does it take to ship vehicles?

While variables such as weather play a large role, cross-country shipments can be as fast as one week!

Does the vehicle have to be in running condition?

No, but to safely load it onto the car carrier, it must roll, brake and steer.

How can I find out where my vehicle is?

For up to date accurate location information, contact your KA Transportation Services Consultant.

Can I fill up my car with boxes?

No, with the exception of child car seats, registration and insurance paperwork, car needs to be completely empty.

Should I leave my toll bridge transponder in the car?

Best to remove that too.  You don’t want to get charged for tolls.

Do you have customer service?

Of course! Our friendly and knowledgeable customer services reps are available to answer your questions 24/7/365.

Should I take photos of my car before the move?

Yes, please take photos of the odometer(which shows the mileage), 1 license plate, front, sides and rear.  Also take photos of the 4 corners of the car.  This helps to document the condition of the car prior to the move.  We don’t expect anything bad to happen, but we wear our seat belts too.
